A candid look at the Watchtower Society,

The Jehovah Witnesses encourage people to do what the Bereans did.

Acts 17:11
Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

I think they would also do the same concerning their own teachings.
If you are starting to study with the Jehovah witnesses I encourage you to start your journey into examining the Scriptures to see if what
they teach is true.

Let's start with the Bible itself.
The Watch Tower Society have produced their own translation of the Bible which they call "The New World Translation of the Greek Scriptures."
They believe this is the most accurate translation of the Bible and is the only one they use in their teachings.

Following their own advice let's examine their Bible translation. To start, the names of the members on the committee who translated the New World Translation are not published.

When Eugenio Danyans, author of "Process to the Jehovah's Witnesses Bible" asked for the names of the translators, they informed him that: "The New World Translation Scripture was not produced with the aim to glorify or support memory of the name of men. Therefore, men who formed the translation committee indicated to the Board of Directors of the Company the desire to remain anonymous."

In 1983, Raymond Franz, former Governing Body member of the Jehovah's Witnesses and nephew of former president Frederick W. Franz, wrote a book entitled "Crisis of Conscience." In this book it says the membership of the committee were Frederick W. Franz, Nathan H. Knorr, Albert Schroeder, Milton And George D. Henschel Bargain.

Raymond says that his uncle Fredrick W. Franz, "Was the only one with enough knowledge of Biblical languages to try a translation of this class. He had studied Greek for two years at the University of Cincinnati, but he studied Hebrew for himself."

Dr. Walter Martin (recognized authority on religions) said that in a test by the Prosecutor in Scotland on November 24, 1954 between Walsh and Latham, "Fredrick W. Franz admitted under oath that he could not translate Genesis 2:4 from the Hebrew" (a verse that any student of first year Hebrew in a Theological Seminary could translate). After reviewing the data, Dr. Martin concludes that the Committee for Translation of the Bible of the New World deserves no respect because "there was no translator with reputed titles recognized in exegesis or Greek or Hebrew translation."

Do you want to know if the Jehovah's witnesses Bible, The New World Translation, is a trustful translation?

Why did they need to produce their own translation of the Bible?

In the following link you will find the answers to these questions.
